International Human Rights Award to Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh

Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh received International Human Rights Award on the occasion of International Human Rights Day. This award was given by All India Human Rights Association (AIHRA) on 10th December 2009 in a special function organized in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) at Jaipur on the eve of International summit on voice of Human Rights. The officer was bestowed with this award for streamlining Community Oriented Policing in Amritsar and protecting human values and dignity of the commoners in a very conscientious manner.
Mr. M.U. Dua, National President of AIHRA presented a detailed report about 23 years long journey of the Association and its role in protecting the rights of common people. General Secretary Mr. HS Tanwar, S. Murlidharan and Mr. Anil Sharma were present at this occasion, besides others. More than 1000 human rights activists participated in this summit from different parts of Indian States and neighbouring countries.
This summit was a grand success from human rights perspective where presentations were made by various speakers on burning human rights issues like female foeticide, domestic violence, child abuse, global warming, role and responsibilities of police in a welfare state etc. This summit was inaugurated by Honorable Mr. N.K. Jain, Chairperson, Rajasthan Human Rights Commission. Justice N.L. Tiberwal spoke on the duties and responsibilities of four pillars of democracy. Justice (Retd) SM Bhargav, Ms. Pooja Sabarwal and Dr. PJ Sudhakar presented their views on various human rights issues at this occasion.
The selfless services rendered by the officer have been recognized by various organizations from time to time. He received Baba Farid Award of Honesty in 2004 for his honesty and dedication by Baba Farid Foundation Faridkot. He was also honored by India Vision Foundation, an NGO founded by Kiran Bedi, for bringing humanistic transformation in Amritsar Central Jail.
